Arm laser uses the Candela GentleMax Pro to reduce hair on the forearms, upper arms, or both. We offer two sizes:

• Half arms ($120): either the lower arm, wrist to elbow, or the upper arm, elbow to shoulder.
• Full arms ($170): wrist to shoulder, including the elbow.

The GentleMax Pro's large spot size covers a long, curved surface like the arm quickly and evenly, which helps avoid missed stripes. If you're not sure which size you need, your technician will look at where your hair actually grows and recommend the smaller option if it's enough.

Arm laser suits you if you:

• shave or wax your forearms and hate the stubble and regrowth;
• feel self-conscious in short sleeves because of dark or dense arm hair;
• get bumps or irritation from shaving your arms;
• have dark hair, on any skin tone.

It's not the right choice for white, grey, light blonde or red hair, during pregnancy, or on freshly tanned or sunburned skin. If your arm hair is very fine and light, we may tell you laser isn't worth the money, and we'd rather say so up front.

• 1–3 weeks after session 1: treated hairs shed.
• Sessions 2–4: regrowth is slower, patchier and finer.
• Sessions 5–8: most clients rarely need to shave their arms.
• After the series: long-term hair reduction, with any regrowth lighter and sparser.

Laser gives permanent hair reduction, not guaranteed removal of every hair. Hormonal changes can bring back some growth, so an occasional maintenance session is normal. Results vary from person to person.

Plan for 6 to 8 sessions, 6 to 8 weeks apart. Body hair on the arms grows on a slower cycle than hair on the face, so spacing sessions further apart catches more follicles in their growth phase. Fine hair sometimes needs a few extra visits. Starting in the fall means most of your series happens during Calgary's long-sleeve months, which keeps your arms out of the sun between sessions.

Before:

• Shave the area 12–24 hours before. No waxing, plucking or epilating for 4 weeks.
• No tanning, sunburn or self-tanner on the arms for 2 weeks.
• Arrive with clean skin: no lotion, oil or sunscreen on the area that day.
• Let us know about any new medication, especially antibiotics or acne medication.

After:

• Mild redness and small bumps around the follicles usually settle within a few hours.
• Skip hot showers, saunas, hot tubs and intense workouts for 24–48 hours.
• Wear SPF 30+ on your arms every day between sessions.
• Shaving between sessions is fine. Waxing and plucking are not.

Arms are one of the easier areas. Most clients feel a light snap and a moment of warmth, and the GentleMax Pro's cooling spray lands just before each pulse. The inner arm and the skin near the wrist are a little more sensitive. Half arms take about 20 minutes and full arms about 30. Your technician checks in throughout and will pause whenever you ask.

Arms see more sun than most of the body, so the skin there is often a shade darker. The GentleMax Pro has two wavelengths, and we choose between them for your skin:

• 755nm Alexandrite for lighter skin (roughly Fitzpatrick I–III).
• 1064nm Nd:YAG for deeper skin (Fitzpatrick IV–VI), including many South Asian, Middle Eastern, Filipino, Latina and Black clients. It is absorbed much less by the pigment in the skin, which lowers the risk of burns and dark marks.
