A Tailored Approach to Even Skin Tone

Hyperpigmentation has many causes, and no single treatment addresses all types equally well. At Lavish Beauty, we combine HydraFacial, Microneedling, Green Peel, and brightening Dermaplaning to create a customised plan that targets your specific type of pigmentation safely and effectively. If your pigmentation is hormone-driven, explore our dedicated melasma care; for marks left behind by breakouts, see acne scar treatment.

Types We Treat

Sun Spots

Flat brown patches caused by cumulative UV exposure. Common on cheeks, forehead, and hands.

Melasma

Hormone-driven discolouration, often symmetrical on the cheeks, forehead, or upper lip.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Dark marks left behind after acne, burns, or skin injuries.

Age Spots

Also called liver spots. Concentrated melanin deposits that develop with age and sun exposure.

Your Path to Brightness

01

Your Consultation

A $10 consultation, credited toward your first treatment — we identify the type and depth of your pigmentation and match it to the right ritual for your Fitzpatrick skin type.

02

Prepare Your Skin

Wear broad-spectrum SPF and avoid sun and tanning for two weeks before your visit. Pause retinoids and exfoliating acids about a week prior — timing depends on strength, so ask us to confirm — and arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.

03

Your Brightening Series

Sessions are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, letting each treatment build on the last for gradual, cumulative fading — gently, without provoking new pigment.

04

Protect the Result

Daily SPF 30+ and brightening, barrier-supportive skincare keep your new evenness protected — sun protection is the single most important step.

Common Questions

6 answers
+

What causes hyperpigmentation?

+

Hyperpigmentation occurs when excess melanin is deposited in the skin. Common causes include sun exposure (sun spots), hormonal changes (melasma), and post-inflammatory responses from acne or injury (PIH). Calgary's high-altitude UV exposure makes sun-related pigmentation particularly common.

Which treatment is best for my type of dark spots?

+

It depends on the type and depth of pigmentation. HydraFacial with brightening boosters targets surface-level spots. Microneedling addresses deeper pigmentation through collagen remodelling. Green Peel accelerates turnover of pigmented cells. We recommend a consultation to determine the best approach.

Can you treat melasma?

+

Yes, though melasma requires a careful, gentle approach. We use HydraFacial with brightening serums and Green Peel Fresh for safe, non-aggressive treatment. Melasma management is an ongoing process, and daily SPF is absolutely essential.

How many sessions will I need?

+

Most hyperpigmentation concerns improve significantly within 4 to 6 sessions, depending on the treatment selected and the depth of pigmentation. Sun spots typically respond faster than melasma. Your aesthetician will create a personalised timeline during your consultation.

Is treatment safe for dark skin tones?

+

Absolutely. HydraFacial, Microneedling, Green Peel, and Dermaplaning are all inherently safe for every skin tone. We adjust all treatment parameters to your Fitzpatrick skin type during your consultation.

How much does hyperpigmentation treatment cost?

+

Pricing depends on the treatment: HydraFacial from $199, Microneedling $300, Green Peel from $215. Many clients benefit from a combination approach. We will recommend the most effective and cost-efficient plan for your specific pigmentation concern.
